The Holy Martyr Sava of Buzău

This holy father of ours suffered for Christ in the year 372, during the persecution of Athanaric, at the hands of the official Atharid, being put to death by drowning in the Buzău River.

On this day, the twelfth of the month, we commemorate the Holy Great Martyr Sava, called the Goth.

Concerning him, the Great Basil, Archbishop of Caesarea in Cappadocia, wrote, requesting his holy relics from the Church in Gothia.

The Life of the Venerable Mother Philothea of Pasărea, the mother of Saint Hierarch Callinicus from Cernica

Schema-nun Philothea Antonescu, the mother of Saint Callinicus from Cernica, was married at a young age. After becoming a widow, she chose the path of monastic life at Pasărea Monastery, where she received the Great Schema (with the name Philothea), becoming an example of spiritual life for the nuns of the community.

Schema-nun Philothea Antonescu was a native of Bucharest, the daughter of faithful parents. At Baptism, she received the name Floarea. In her youth, she married Antonie, a devout young man, with whom she founded a blessed Christian family.

They settled in the Sfântul Visarion district of Bucharest, where they raised in the love of God and of their homeland the four sons granted to them by God.
