Nera Monastery in Caras-Severin County has bought a 3D printer for its Natural Products Labs.
The monastery’s labs were founded in 2009 ‘by the desire of the nuns to bring people closer to the healing gifts sowed by God in plants.’
The first Natural Plants Lab is spiritually protected by the Holy Unmercenaries.
The second laboratory was placed under the protection of Sts Nectarios of Aegina, Luke of Crimea, and John Maximovitch.
Nun Marina from Nera Monastery spoke in an interview with printam3d.ro about the reasons that led to the purchase of this electronic equipment.
‘We want to produce prototypes/ molds for our new ceramic bottles and jars that we will use as containers for the natural products we manufacture.’
‘The fact that this technique makes it possible to customize the finished product at no additional cost and in a relatively short time compared to other processes is of great benefit to us.’
‘In addition, when you want to give life to an original idea, by checking and developing the design in all its details, 3D printing seems the most appropriate process,’ Mother Marina said.
‘Besides prayer, which is the main work of every monastic, the main activity of the sisters at Nera Monastery is the preparation of herbal products: food supplements (syrups, tinctures, capsules, teas, oils, vinegar, jams, honey, spices), but also a range of organic cosmetics (solid and liquid soaps, creams, deodorants, shampoos, lotions and face water).’
‘All Nera Plant products are manufactured according to our own recipes, rooted in the ancient traditional remedies of monasteries in our monastery’s two laboratories – Nera Plant Labs.’
‘The preparation processes aim at preserving the natural properties of the plants used, because medicinal plants are God’s invaluable gift to humans.’
‘Nera Plant products have two great qualities: they are manufactured from the heart with prayer, and secondly, they are manufactured from carefully-selected natural ingredients – plants picked by nuns from clean areas free from pollution.’
