His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian presided over the Monastic Synaxis of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada held on Monday at the “Exaltation of the Holy Cross and St. Ephraim the New” Monastery in Mono.
Bishop Ioan Casian conducted the Divine Liturgy at the commencement of the meeting, which was attended by Fr. Petruță Busuioc, Eparchial Administrative Vicar; Protosyncellus Corneliu Andrașco, Exarch of Monasteries; Protosyncellus Maxim Morariu, Eparchial Inspector; and Hieromonk Policarp, Abbot of the “Exaltation of the Holy Cross” Monastery in Mono.
Key topics discussed included translating the Monastic Life Regulations and Canonical Discipline Regulations into English and French and involving hieromonks in pastoral duties at parishes and missions until permanent clerical assignments are made.
Furthermore, it was determined that candidates for ordination in the Toronto region would undergo liturgical instruction at the Mono monastery.
Additionally, preparations were completed for events commemorating the 140th anniversary of the Romanian Orthodox Church’s autocephaly and the Centennial of its elevation to patriarchal status.
Next year, four regional gatherings will be held to bring together monks, nuns, clergy, and faithful for prayer vigils. The proposed venues include St. George Diocesan Cathedral in Montreal, the “Exaltation of the Holy Cross” Monastery in Mono, St. George Cathedral in Windsor, and the “Annunciation” Chapel in Howser.
