His Eminence Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia met in Chișinău on Tuesday with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Alexandru Munteanu.
The Metropolitan praised the pace and consistency with which the new government has assumed its public responsibilities.
Metropolitan Petru outlined major initiatives the Metropolis plans to implement in the coming period, emphasising the Romanian Orthodox Church’s contribution to strengthening local communities in Bessarabia.
Prime Minister Munteanu expressed gratitude for the Metropolis’s ongoing involvement during sensitive moments for the Republic of Moldova, recalling support for refugees from Ukraine, social programmes nationwide, and messages promoting balance amid current geopolitical tensions.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from both sides to maintain open dialogue and cooperation focused on the common good — on peace and stability — and on supporting projects that strengthen social cohesion and advance Moldova’s European future.
