Forty young Kenyans visited the Cultural-Missionary Centre of the Archdiocese of Târgoviște at the Peștera Ialomiței Monastery on Monday, along with other landmarks in the Bucegi Mountains.
The students are from two schools in Kenya that won an inaugural football tournament organized on Europe Day. The students received a specialized training camp in Romania, fully sponsored by the European Union and the Romanian Embassy in Kenya, as a reward.
The trip to the Bucegi Mountains was organized for the participants’ recreation, tourist education, and social inclusion at the initiative of Ambassador Gențiana Șerbu.
At the monastery, the Kenyan students were welcomed by the abbot, Archimandrite Calinic Dandu, who gave them a tour of the three churches within the monastic complex of Peștera.
Following this, the students visited nearby tourist attractions: Peștera Ialomiței, the Bolboci-Padina natural complex, and the natural monuments of the Bucegi Mountains—Sphinx and Babele.
The young visitors from Kenya also enjoyed a cable car ride and a meal provided by the host monastery. They received bilingual informational materials, small icons, and souvenirs from the abbot, according to the official website of the Archdiocese of Târgoviște.
