Starting last Friday, the archbishop, clergy, monastics and lay believers of the Archdiocese of Tomis are going into the fields to pray for rain to break the drought.
Kneeling on the ground, His Eminence Archbishop Teodosie of Tomis fervently asked God to stop the drought.
Priests went out into the fields or near wells, officiating the services provided for this situation.
Prayer for rain will continue in the archdiocese according to the following schedule:
- every day, services will be held in churches with special petitions for drought relief;
- on Wednesday, July 20, and Friday, July 22, prayers for rain will be offered in the fields near parishes and monasteries.
Special litanies are said in every church after the Romanian Patriarchate published an appeal for prayers to end the drought so that God may send a quiet rain for the excellent fruitfulness of the earth.
