Iași Archdiocese: Two candidates to be considered for episcopacy

Archimandrites Nichifor Horia and Ioan Harpa were nominated by the Metropolitan Synod of Moldavia and Bucovina for the position of Auxiliary Bishop of Iași.

The proposals were approved on February 2 and were forwarded to the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Archimandrite Nichifor Horia is the Abbot of the “Holy Three Hierarchs” in the city of Iași and Exarch of the monasteries in the eparchy of Iaşi.

Archimandrite Ioan Harpa is the Abbot of the Popăuţi Monastery in the county of Botoșani and Exarch of monasteries in the Botoşani region.

The Metropolitan Synod also approved the topics for the Priesthood Capacity Exam, discussed disciplinary issues and other subjects related to church life in the eparchy.

The meeting of the Metropolitan Synod was chaired by Metropolitan Teofan of Moldova and Bucovina and attended by archbishops Calinic of Suceava and Rădăuți, Ioachim of Roman and Bacău, Bishop Ignatie of Huși and Auxiliary Bishop Damaschin of Suceava and Rădăuți.
