Georgian Pilgrims on a Visit to Antim Monastery

From 20-26 May 2016, a group of pilgrims from “Saint Panteleimon” Parish in Tbilisi, Georgia, are going on a pilgrimage, in Romania, to several monasteries in Moldova, Bucovina and the Archdiocese of Bucharest.

During the first days of the pilgrimage, the pilgrims accompanied by parish priest George visited the Monasteries of Bistriţa, Durău, Ceahlău, Sihăstria, Neamţ, Putna in Moldova and Bucovina. Today, the Georgian pilgrims accompanied by His Excellency Giorgadze Ilia, Georgian Ambassador to Romania, attended the Divine Liturgy celebrated in the church of Antim Monastery in Bucharest, on which occasion some of them were received the Holy Communion after firstly confessing their sins.

After the Divine Liturgy, the pilgrims were received by His Grace Varlaam Ploieşteanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch, in the Holy Synod library, in the precincts of Antim Monastery. There, His Grace presented them the history of the monastery and spoke about the activity of Saint Hierarch Antim of Iviria celebrated in the Romanian Patriarchate at the commemoration of 300 years since his martyr’s death (1716-2016).

The next days the group of pilgrims will visit Cernica, Pasărea, Căldăruşani, and Snagov Monasteries within the Archdiocese of Bucharest.
