The Faculty of Orthodox Theology and Educational Sciences of Valahia University of Târgoviște hosted an academic conference on Thursday, attended by professors from Tbilisi and members of the university’s teaching staff. The discussions focused on the theme “The Church of Georgia in the 19th–20th Centuries”.
Among the invited speakers were Dimitry Gegenava, vice-rector of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University in Tbilisi and director of the Prince David Institute for Law, Gocha Barnovi, dean of the Faculty of Theology in Tbilisi, and Guram Lursmanashvili, lecturer at the same faculty.
The conference proceedings were opened by Fr Ștefan Florea, dean of the Faculty of Theology in Târgoviște. The lecture session was moderated by Professor Ion Croitoru and followed by a debate in which participants discussed historical, theological and cultural aspects related to the topic.
The programme continued with a visit to the Eparchial Centre of the Archdiocese of Târgoviște, where the guests were received by His Eminence Hon Metropolitan Nifon, Archbishop of Târgoviște and Patriarchal Exarch. The delegation also visited the rectorate headquarters of Valahia University of Târgoviște, where they were welcomed by the university’s leadership.
The discussions highlighted a shared interest in developing educational and scientific research projects to strengthen institutional cooperation and academic exchanges between Romania and Georgia.
