Examination for Professional Degrees in Priesthood, in Bucharest

Wednesday, 13 July 2016, the exams for priesthood degrees ended at Patriarch Justinian Faculty of Theology. During the last three weeks 190 clergymen of the Metropolitanate of Muntenia and Dobrudgea attended the courses of specialisation at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Bucharest.

At the end, those who went in for the final examination were evaluated through a written paper, while those who went in for the 2nd degree in priesthood were examined both in written and orally.

The two examining commissions were chaired by His Grace Varlaam Ploieşteanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch, and by His Grace Timotei Prahoveanul, Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest.

His Grace Timotei Prahoveanul declared for TRINITAS Radio station that these courses were very useful, and the clergy who attend them have a lot to learn when they graduate.

We are glad to have the occasion to meet very good priests preoccupied with their mission, focused on very serious issues and who implement the words of the Saviour and do their duty in the parishes they were sent for mission. There are priests from whom the faithful have a lot to learn. On the occasion of these exams, especially during the oral examination, the priests learn one from another, from others’ experience, from their preaching, from how they present the pastoral service issues and so they can be mutually enriched. These examinations are necessary and I think that the priests have a lot to learn while preparing and going in for them.

The courses for professional degrees in priesthood began on 30 June 2016. They were organised by Patriarch Justinian Faculty of Theology in Bucharest and were designed to meet the present issues the priests are faced with in their pastoral service.
