Bishop-elect Archimandrite Timotei Bel to be ordained to the Episcopate at Scărișoara Nouă Monastery

The Very Rev. Archimandrite Timotei Bel will be ordained to the Episcopate during the Divine Liturgy that will be celebrated Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Scarisoara Noua Monastery, which he has shepherded as an abbot since 2007.

Bishop-elect Timotei will bear the title of Sătmar and will be installed as assistant bishop to the Diocese of Maramureș and Sătmar, which is led by His Grace Bishop Justin.

Archim. Timotei Bel was elected by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church during its working session on May 24, 2018.

Until his election, Bishop-elect Timotei of Sătmar was the exarch of the monasteries of the Maramures Diocese.

As announced by the Diocese of Maramureș and Sătmar, Metropolitan Andrei of Cluj will attend the episcopal consecration.

Archim. Timotei Bel was born on January 13, 1974, in Rohia, Maramureș County. He was tonsured a monk in 1994 at Rohia Monastery. After being ordained a hieromonk, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite.

In 2007, he was appointed the abbot of Scărișoara Nouă Monastery. The same year he became a doctor in Theology at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Thessaloniki.
