His Eminence Archbishop Casian of the Lower Danube joined people with disabilities in prayer on Sunday at the Archdiocesan Cathedral in Galați.
The Archbishop emphasised the importance of solidarity, inspired by the Gospel of the Healing of the Paralysed Man at Bethesda:
“Being constantly people among people, so that no one today may complain of loneliness, if they call upon You for help, O Lord.”
He pointed to Christ’s work as the model of love and compassion for those who suffer:
“You came first as a spiritual physician full of empathy and mercy towards a man who had been ill for 38 years, whom You raised up in a divine manner, teaching us to receive Your divine power.”
Compassion for Those in Suffering
Members of the Sporting Club Association for Persons with Disabilities Galați took part in the Divine Liturgy.
“Every year, on the Sunday of the Healing of the Paralytic, we attend the Divine Liturgy with a group of 30 beneficiaries,” said Ionela Pâslaru, a social worker with the association, speaking to Trinitas TV.
A social-philanthropic initiative dedicated to people with disabilities was held in the courtyard of the Archdiocesan Residence. At the end of the event, the hierarch distributed icons, prayer books and food packages.
Founded in 1992, the Sporting Club Association conducts social and rehabilitation activities for persons with disabilities, providing monthly support to approximately 100 beneficiaries.
