His Grace Assistant Bishop Timotei of Prahova received Metropolitan Isaiah of Tamassos and Orini from the Orthodox Church of Cyprus at the Patriarchal Palace in Bucharest on Saturday.
On the occasion, Bishop Timotei presented Metropolitan Isaiah, on behalf of Patriarch Daniel, with the Order of St Demetrius the New, Protector of Bucharest, which includes an engolpion bearing the saint’s image.
During the discussions, the two hierarchs highlighted the presence of a sizeable Romanian Orthodox community within the Metropolis of Tamassos and Orini in Cyprus, a fact that has led Metropolitan Isaiah to visit Romania on several occasions.
Metropolitan Isaiah visited Romania until Sunday, accompanied by a delegation from his diocese.
The Metropolis of Tamassos and Orinis traces its origins to A.D. 45, when it was founded by the Apostles Paul and Barnabas. Its first bishop was St Heraclides.
