His Grace Bishop Ignatie of Huși welcomed Friday, April 19, 2019, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Romania, Hans Klemm, at his episcopal residence in Huși.
On this occasion, Bishop Ignatie presented the US Ambassador with a book written by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel titled ‘Confessing the Truth in Love’, and a photo album with pictures from Romanian villages.
The US Ambassador was given an insight into the main historical and cultural landmarks that characterize the Huși Diocese, as well as into the spiritual life of the inhabitants of the area.
Friday morning, Ambassador Hans Klemm visited the Jewish cemetery where 73 headstones were smashed by vandals a few weeks before.
He was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ana Birchall, State Secretary Tudor Buzatu, members of the Parliament and local officials.

The Orthodox Diocese of Huși expressed its deep sorrow over the ‘unspeakable action of desecration of several graves in the Jewish cemetery in Huşi.’
The Diocese of Huşi expressed its sympathy and solidarity with the members of the Jewish community in Huși, ‘as a reflex of the supportive relations cultivated in the tragic moments of the not-so-distant past, when hierarchs such as Bishop Gregory Leu of Huși considered it a moral duty to offer support.’
