On 5 November 2012, the first session of the autumn semestral pastoral-missionary of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Bucharest was held in Patriarch Teoctist Aula Magna of the Patriarchate Palace, under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel. Over 700 clergymen of the deaneries of Bucharest and Ilfov county were present, together with the charity priests of Bucharest and Ilfov. The conference session was proceeded by the Divine Liturgy and by the Te Deum service celebrated in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Spiridon the New by His Grace Varsanufie Prahoveanul, Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest, assisted by a group of priests and deacons.
His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church opened the conference with the sermon named Taking care of the sick – a spiritual duty and a social need.
“The solemn year of the Sacrament of the Holy Unction and taking care of the sick (2012) is not only a call that the Church addresses the civil society faced with the crisis of the moral values and of the solidarity with those who suffer, but also an urge addressed to every servant of the Holy Altar to show that the merciful love of Christ celebrated in the Divine Liturgy must be permanently confessed through word and deed in the social – philanthropic work of the Church for the sick and poor”, His Beatitude said referring to the Solemn year 2012.
The Conference was focused on the theme Taking care of the sick and the pastoral – missionary, social – philanthropic, and medical work of the Church. Essays on three themes were presented within the meeting:
1. Catechization of the faithful
2. Pastoral work of the Church and of her servants for taking care of the sick
3. The social-philanthropic and medical work of the Church and of her servants.

• Rev. Zosima Banyai – Saint Irina parish – Voluntari, deanery of North Ilfov
• Rev. Eduard Toma – Queen Elisabeth School Centre, Deanery 2, Bucharest
The meeting of the priests and deacons of Prahova county, deaneries of Ploiesti, Campina, Valenii de Munte and Urlati and of the charity clergy of Prahova county will be held Tuesday, 6 November 2012, at 10.00 hours, in the Great Hall of Toma Caragiu Theatre of Ploesti city.
