The Patriarch of Romania Will Chair the Eparchial Assembly of the Archdiocese of Buzau and Vrancea

Tuesday, 5 February 2012, 9.30 hours, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church will chair, as Archbishop of Buzau and Vrancea locum tenens, the annual meeting of the Eparchial Assembly of the Archdiocese of Buzau and Vrancea which will take place in the Synodal Hall of the Patriarchal Residence.

The working session of the Eparchial Assembly will be preceded by the celebration of a Te Deum in the Patriarchal Cathedral, at 8.30 hours.

Rev. Adrian Ionescu, media counsellor of the Archdiocese of Buzau and Vrancea gave more details to Basilica News Agency: “To start with the meeting, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel will read the synthesis report on the activity of the departments of the Archdiocese of Buzau and Vrancea in 2012. Then, the activity reports of the departments of the Archdiocese of Buzau and Vrancea will be presented in the plenary meeting of the Eparchial Assembly, and submitted for approval together with the report of financial and bookkeeping activity in 2012 and the budget project for 2013.”

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel has been Archbishop locum tenens of Buzau and Vrancea from 7 January 2013, when His Eminence Archbishop Epifanie of Buzau and Vrancea passed away, till the election and enthronement of the new Hierarch of this eparchy.

According to articles 90 – 94 of the Statutes for the organisation and functioning of the Romanian Orthodox Church, the Eparchial Assembly is the deliberative body for all the administrative, cultural, social-philanthropic, economical and patrimonial issues of the eparchy, made up of 30 representatives of the clergy and of the laic faithful (10 priests and 20 laics) elected for 4 years time.
