The Patriarch of Romania at the Inauguration of the Cardiovascular Centre of Monza Hospital of Bucharest

On 23 January 2012, Monza Hospital, part of the Policlinico di Monza Italian group of Hospitals has inaugurated the newest Cardiovascular Centre in Bucharest and in the country. The event was held in the presence of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, who celebrated the consecration service of the centre.

The Patriarch of Romania showed in the speech delivered that good health is a gift of God which must be cultivated, informs Trinitas Radio station. His Beatitude has also emphasised the importance of the relationship between physician and patient: “The same as God gives man several gifts, and man, having been common creator with God, must multiply these gifts, so the gift of helping the sick get back their good health is a blessing of God. It is much sufferance in today’s world, in general, and in the Romanian society, in particular. The medical science advanced, but the number of diseases increased too. This is why the collaboration between physician and patient is always necessary, both in regard to the preventive or prophylactic medicine and to the medicine that alleviates sufferance or heals it as much as possible. Yet, I would like to say in conclusion that the physician treats, but God heals”.

His Beatitude has offered the leadership of the hospital an icon of Jesus Christ, our Saviour, as well as two books published by the Publishing Houses of the Patriarchate – informs Trinitas TV station.

Present at the event, the Minister of Health, Eugen Nicolaescu, expressed his satisfaction with the fact that more and more private medical centres are opened in our country. He assured the hospital officials of the Governmental support and asked them to involve in the healing of the medical cases which the public health system cannot solve: “I think you can do better than you think. I think, first of all, of children. Paediatric cardiac surgery is very deficient in Romania. About 2000 cases need surgery every year but we can solve only 200. The rest of 1800 cannot be solved. Maybe you can help more children. I understood that the clinic is equipped at the highest level. We hope that the more you grow and promote excellence level you more you can impose standards that the people involved in the Romanian medical field must observe.”

Representatives of the Ministry of health and authorities attended the inauguration.

Set up with a total investment of 40 million euro, Monza hospital has become operational ever since July 2012. The Hospital is a private medical centre which provides permanent medical care, 24 hours a day every day, through specialised physicians for cardiology, anaesthesia and reanimation, emergencies, and cardiovascular surgery.
