The Holy Synod Will Meet in a Working Session

Monday, 29 October 2012, the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church will meet in a working session in the Synodal Hall of the Patriarchal Residence, under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel. Before meeting, the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 7.30 hours in the Patriarchal Cathedral, followed by a Te Deum, at 9.30 hours.

The Holy Synod is the highest authority of the Romanian Orthodox Church, in all fields of activity. The Holy Synod is made up of the Patriarch, all metropolitans, archbishops, eparchial bishops, assistant bishops to the Patriarch, assistant bishops and vicar hierarchs employed. The Holy Synod is convened at least in two working sessions a year in spring and autumn, and in extraordinary meetings any time is needed. In order to study and formulate the proposals related to the problems to be studied, the Holy Synod elects four synodal commissions from among its members, each of them chaired by a metropolitan.
