The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church meets in solemn session

The solemn session of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church was held this morning, 28 October 2016, in the Aula Magna of the Palace of the Patriarchate, in Bucharest. His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, chaired the session.

His Grace Varlaam of Ploieşti, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch and General Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, read out the report on the activities carried out in 2016, declared by the Holy Synod Solemn Year of the Religious Education of the Orthodox Christian Youth and Commemorative Year of Saint Hieromartyr Anthimos the Ivirite and of the Church Typographers.

Next, His Grace Bishop Varlaam presented two new volumes recently published, one on the history of Romanian Orthodox Monasticism, and the other a volume entitled The Gospel of Christ’s Glory, signed by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, containing sermons for all the Sundays in the year.
