The Greek Ambassador on a Farewell Visit to the Romanian Patriarchate

The Press Office of the Romanian Patriarchate informs us:

On 22 January 2013, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel received His Excellency Mr Georgios Poukamissas, Ambassador of Greece in Romania, on a farewell visit, at the end of his diplomatic mission in Bucharest.

His Excellency conveyed a message of high esteem to the Patriarch of Romania and emphasised the very good traditional relations between the two Orthodox peoples and countries, members of the European Union.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel congratulated Mr Ambassador Georgios Poukamissas for the contribution brought during his diplomatic mission in Romania to better mutual knowledge between the two Orthodox peoples and wished him every success in the new position he is to be appointed to by the Greek state authorities.

The Patriarch of Romania appreciated the relations of fraternity and cooperation between the Romanian Patriarchate and the Orthodox Church of Greece developed a lot during the last two decades. In this sense, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel mentioned that it is already tradition that a delegation of the Orthodox Church of Greece should participate in the feast of Saint Dimitrios the New, Protector of Bucharest, and bring holy relics from Greece, increasing the spiritual intensity of the pilgrimage organised every autumn on the Patriarchate Hill.

Mr Ambassador underlined the fact during his diplomatic mission in Romania he was impressed by the faith of the Romanian people and by the pastoral missionary and social educational activity of the Romanian Orthodox Church in the Romanian society. In this context, His Excellency mentioned that he has become a faithful listener to the Trinitas Radio station of the Romanian Patriarchate due to the religious programmes that bring spiritual peace and wished the Patriarch of Romania every success in the construction of the Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation.
