The 5th Sunday after Easter at „Domniţa Bălaşa” Church – Patriarchal Chapel

On the 5th Sunday after Easter, also called Sunday of the Samaritan woman, at “Domniţa Bălaşa” church – patriarchal chapel in Bucharest, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Grace Ieronim Sinaitul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch.

His Grace delivered a sermon in which he explained to the faithful present at the Divine Liturgy the historical context in which the Samaritans appeared and the disagreements which emerged between these people and the Judeans.

His Grace Ieronim Sinaitul has also shown that it was not usual at the time for a man to talk with a woman in public, especially a Judean man with a Samaritan woman.

The Saviour wanted to improve this too and showed that there is full equality. The same as those who believe in God and are integrated in the Church are brothers and sisters, so a man and a woman are equal creatures in front of God. While remedying this evil, Jesus Christ shows that His Gospel is not only for the Judeans and Samaritans, but also for all the nations of the earth – His Grace explained.
