Sunday of Orthodoxy celebrated at the Phanar

His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presided at the Divine Liturgy officiated at the Cathedral of St George in Phanar, on the Sunday of Orthodoxy, 20 March 2016. Together with His Holiness also concelebrated the following Metropolitans: John of Pergamon, Isaiah of Denver, Alexios of Atlanta, Iakovos of Princes Islands, Joseph of Proikonissos, Meliton of Philadelphia, Emmanuel of France, Nicetas of Dardanelles, Gerasimos of San Francisco, Tikhon of America (Orthodox Church in America), Maximos of Silivri and Amphilochius of Adrianopole, fanarion.blogspot.com informs.

After the proclamation of the Holy Gospel, Archimandrite Bartholomew Samaras, chief secretary of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, read from the pulpit the encyclical letter of His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew regarding the convocation of the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church.

After the Divine Liturgy, Patriarch Bartholomew officiated a Trisagion (memorial) service for the rest of the souls of all those who had struggled for our Orthodox faith and have become perfect within it.

Afterwards all the present hierarchs and faithful carried holy icons in procession, according to the Tradition of the Church.
