Suceava Archdiocese takes 100+ children to the seaside for first time

September 5, 2021, marked the end of a social program of the Archdiocese of Suceava aiming at helping children to go to the seaside for the first time.

The project entitled “For the first time at the seaside” was carried out by the Archdiocese of Suceava and Radauti and was dedicated to 103 children in the area.

“The joy of these children is like a prayer for those who contributed to the realization of this charitable project,” said Father Andrei Mocanu, program coordinator.

“It was not easy, but together we are the reason for the joy of these children. May God make eternal the deeds of almsgiving of all those who contributed to the organization of this camp.”

The children were accompanied by 11 volunteers who supervised and coordinated them. They saw the first sunrise on the beach, took their first boat ride, went to the Aqua Park and the amusement park.

“I saw how large the sea is, but also how beautiful it is to go on vacation somewhere with friends,” said Alesia, a 12-year-old teenager, at the end of her stay.

“The children I befriended here will be my friends for a long, long time to come and we will definitely see each other again,” said Luca, 11.

Father Andrei Mocanu is a Social Educator at the “St. Leontius of Rădăuți” Settlement.

Twenty of the 103 children came from the social settlement, and the rest from families without material possibilities from all over the archdiocese.

Half of the funds were raised through a Charity Tour of folk music held in Suceava, Gura Humorului, Vatra Dornei and Radauti, with the help of artists Steliana Sima, Elisabeta Turcu Juverdeanu, Constantin Bahrin, Grigorie Gherman, Ilie Caras, Alexandra Dan and Gabriela Vladu.
