At the request of “Diaconia” Social Mission of the Metropolis of Bessarabia, the Romanian Patriarchate sent a truck-load of food and products of primary necessity for Ukrainian refugees in the Republic of Moldova on Tuesday morning.
“It is the first humanitarian transport to the Diaconia Social Mission carried out by the Romanian Patriarchate together with Filantropia Federation, through the platform Help with joy,” said Fr. Ciprian Ioniță, coordinating patriarchal counsellor at the Social-Philanthropic Sector of the Patriarchal Administration.
The platform ajutacubucurie.ro that was previously used to help people infected with COVID, has now been modified to serve the Patriarchate’s endeavours to assist Ukrainian refugees.
“For this transport, people from the Diaconia Social Mission urgently asked us for clothes for children and food for the little ones”, Fr. Ciprian Ioniță told Radio Trinitas.
At the same time, various non-perishable foods, sanitary ware and blankets were sent to the Republic of Moldova.
It was a joint effort of Church NGOs across the country. This aid action was joined by the Archdiocese of Bucharest, which provided food with the help of several traders and the truck needed to carry the products.
The initiative was supported by the transport company DGH Log & Sped, the Profi store network and the Scandia Sibiu company.
