Trinitas Film was officially launched on Thursday at the Aula Magna “Patriarch Teoctist” of the Patriarchal Palace, becoming the world’s first streaming platform dedicated exclusively to Orthodox Christian content.
Trinitas Film is the official streaming platform of the Romanian Patriarchate’s Trinitas Television. It provides access to an extensive archive of religious, cultural and educational audiovisual productions created in recent years.
The platform is available online at www.trinitas.film and through dedicated mobile applications for Android and iOS devices, with plans to expand access to innovative television systems.
A platform dedicated to Orthodox content
Archdeacon Gheorghe Popa, Patriarchal Adviser and Director of Trinitas TV, delivered the presentation.
“Trinitas Film is a platform consciously dedicated to documentary film, auteur cinema and audiovisual productions of cultural and spiritual value,” he said.
The archive of the Patriarchate’s television channel currently exceeds 150 films produced in high-definition (HD), representing “a precious visual and cultural treasury that deserved to be brought into an organised, easily accessible and thematically structured space.”
The Trinitas Film catalogue
Structurally, the platform is organised into two main sections: Trinitas Film, which includes documentaries and thematic productions, and Trinitas Live, which allows users to watch Trinitas TV programmes live.
The Trinitas Film catalogue is organised into thematic categories, including monasteries and sketes, the history of the Romanian Patriarchate, the saints of the centenary year, the Holy Land, saints of Orthodoxy, Orthodoxy and society, spiritual fathers and confessors, the National Cathedral, as well as sections dedicated to cultural heritage and notable Romanian personalities.
The new platform offers modern functionalities such as automatic resume playback, saving favourite films, personalised recommendations, and the option to listen to content with the screen turned off—particularly useful for accessing Trinitas Live broadcasts.
Access to content
Content access follows a mixed model: more than half of the materials are available free of charge upon registration. In contrast, the remaining content is accessible via a € 2-per-month subscription.
“This model allows us to sustain the quality of documentary films, develop new content and ensure the qualitative growth of the platform,” the Director of Trinitas TV emphasised.
Archdeacon Gheorghe Popa expressed gratitude to His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel for granting his blessing to the project, as well as to the Trinitas TV team and the Basilica Media Centre for their contribution to the development and launch of Trinitas Film.
