The Sunday of Orthodoxy is a feast celebrating the holy icons. On this Sunday, throughout the Orthodox world, these representations of saintly persons are at the centre of religious services and processions.

In Constantinople, on the first Sunday of Great Lent, Patriarch Bartholomew celebrated the Divine Liturgy together with Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus.

On this special Sunday, Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria and All Africa presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Annunciation Cathedral in Alexandria, Egypt.

In the Holy Land, Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and headed the traditional procession with holy icons.

During the service, Father Teofil prayed for a good closure of the situation generated by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the Sunday of Orthodoxy at “Christ the Saviour” Cathedral in Moscow.

In Serbia, Patriarch Irinej celebrated the feast of the holy icons at St Sabbas Church in the Vračar district of Belgrade.
