Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria to pay official visit to Serbia

His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodoros II, will pay an official visit to the Serbian Orthodox Church on September 22-29, 2017, when he will meet the Serbian Patriarch Irinej.

The citizens of Belgrade will have an opportunity to greet His Beatitude Patriarch Theodoros and his delegation at his arrival on Friday, September 22, 2017, when, after a solemn welcome ceremony, in honour of the distinguished guest a Doxology (Te Deum) will be officiated at the Cathedral of the Holy Archangel Michael in Belgrade, official site of Serbian Patriarchate reports.

During their visit the high dignitaries from the Alexandrian Church will take part in the all-night vigil service, which will be celebrated at the Belgrade Cathedral on Saturday, September 23, at 5 pm.

The main event of the visit will be the festive Divine Liturgy that the two Patriarchs and Hierarchs of the two sister Churches will celebrate on Sunday, September 24.

Together with the Serbian Patriarch Irinej, Hierarchs, priests and monastics, and Serbian believers will show hospitality to the guests in the most important Serbian shrines, monasteries: Krusedol, Hopovo, Zica, Studenica, Sopocani, Patriarchate of Pec, Visoki Decani, the city of Nis, as well as at Ravanica monastery.

The Primates of the two Churches will meet with state officials and Serbian social life representatives.

During the visit, the Primates of the two Churches, together with members of their delegations, will discuss current issues that both Churches face, as well as Orthodoxy and Christianity as a whole. The topics include causes and consequences of the unprecedented suffering and the migration of Christian people, especially in the Middle East and on the African continent.
