Patriarch Daniel sends letter of solidarity to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew after quake shakes Turkey, Greece

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel expressed his grief over the losses suffered by Greece and Turkey after a powerful earthquake shook the neighbouring countries on Friday. His Beatitude sent a message of solidarity to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew:

His Holiness Bartholomew I,
Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarch

Your Holiness,

We learned with deep sorrow about the powerful earthquake that struck near the coast of Izmir province on October 30, 2020, causing the death of over 20 persons and injuring over 800.

In these moments of trial, we offer prayers to the crucified and risen Christ to rest the souls of the dead, to give speedy recovery to the wounded and help to all who have been affected by the earthquake.

We express our compassion and solidarity with those affected and pray to God to protect the entire world from earthquakes and other calamities.

With high esteem and brotherly love in Christ the Lord,

† Daniel
Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church
