Orthodox organization invites children to strengthen faith through a short film competition

A Christian Orthodox organization from Sidney, St Ypomoni Family and Friends Ministry, launched a short film competition for children. The initiative aims to strengthen their faith and make them reflect on the main message of the Gospel: love of God and of one’s neighbour.

“Fruits of the Spirit” is the theme of this inaugural edition. The contest is addressed to children aged 8-18 from the Greek Orthodox Archdioceses of Australia.

Until February 10th, participants are invited to send three-minute films inspired by Holy Apostle Paul’s words written in the Epistle to Galatians:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”

The children can participate individually or in teams of mostly four members.

The jury will be made up of industry professionals and Church leaders. The prizes are vouchers in value of 300, 200, 100 and respectively 50 dollars.

Depending on COVID restrictions, winning films will be screened at either a real world or virtual event. Details will be provided closer to the end date of the festival.

More information can be found on Facebook or by writing an email at [email protected].

The initiative is made in partnership with Trisagion Films, the organizer of the Byzanfest international Orthodox film festival.
