NBR: Numismatic issues dedicated to the Completion of the Great Union – Henri Mathias Berthelot

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, as of 22 April 2019, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin dedicated to the Completion of the Great Union – Henri Mathias Berthelot.

The coin has the following characteristics:

  • Face value: lei 10 ;
  • Metal: silver;
  • Fineness: 999‰;
  • Shape: round;
  • Diameter: 37 mm;
  • Weight: 31.103 g;
  • Quality: proof;
  • Edge: milled.

Obverse: the mansion of General Berthelot in the village of Fărcădinul de Jos, the present-day General Berthelot, Hunedoara county, the inscription “ROMANIA” in an arc, the face value “10 LEI“, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2019“.

Reverse: the portrait of Henri Mathias Berthelot, the inscriptions “HENRI MATHIAS BERTHELOT” and “1861-1931”, his birth and death years, in an arc.

The silver coins are individually housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by leaflets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The mintage of this issue is 300 silver coins, NBR reports.

The selling price is lei 350.00, VAT excluded, per silver coin, including the leaflet.

The silver coins dedicated to the Completion of the Great Union – Henri Mathias Berthelot are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The silver coins will be put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iași and Timișoara.
