Myrrh-Bearing Women are true models for women today, Bishop Veniamin says

The Myrrh-Bearing Women are true models for women today, Bishop Veniamin of Southern Bessarabia said on Sunday at the Parish of the Nativity of the Mother of God in Palanca, Republic of Moldova.

His Grace underscored that Christian women are called to cultivate the virtues of the Myrrh-Bearing Women both in family life and in the life of the community.

“They show us both the courage and the faith that all women must possess in order to remain Christian and to follow Christ, as the Myrrh-Bearing Women followed Him. They are the ones who take upon themselves to bear children; they are the ones who undertake to teach them, to raise them well, and then to offer them to God.”

Co-workers in Proclaiming the Resurrection

The bishop of Southern Bessarabia highlighted the role of the Myrrh-Bearing Women in proclaiming the Resurrection of the Saviour Jesus Christ.

“See the wondrous work that God accomplishes in this world through women, who were created by Him to be a help to man, but who, through Christ, have also received a particular dignity — that of being fellow labourers with the Apostles and of going even to the ends of the earth.”

His Grace emphasised that through Christ, the witness of the Myrrh-Bearing Women became foundational to the preaching of the Resurrection and remains a living model for Christian women today.

Bishop Veniamin also commended the ministry of Fr Ioan Mihai Drăgănescu and his family within the local community.

The previous day, the conference “The Fortress of the Family of Love”, organised with the support of Diaconia Social Mission, took place, with the participation of Bishop Veniamin.
