Metropolitan Cathedral of Iași | HE Hierotheos Vlachos: God dwells in the hearts of His friends

Hieroteos Vlachos at Iasi (2)

Believers and pilgrims came in large numbers on the Sunday of the Myrrh-bearing Women at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Iași. The Divine Liturgy was concelebrated April 30 by His Eminence Hierotheos, Metropolitan of Nafpaktos and Hagios Vlasios, His Eminence Teofan, Metropolitan of Moldova and Bukovina, and His Grace Corneliu, Bishop of Huși.

After the gospel reading, Metropolitan Hierotheos Vlachos delivered a homily focusing on the importance of having faith in the Living God – in the Risen Christ.

Christ, in Whom we believe, is the Living God. He is not a god-idea or a value coming from this world. We do not believe in a god who lived once at a time of history and then died. We believe in the Living God, in the Risen Christ, Metropolitan Hierotheos said.

His Eminence noted that when we genuinely live the Orthodox faith, we acquire the experience of Christ’s presence in our hearts. He went on stressing that God dwells and shelters in the hearts of His friends, the hearts of spiritually living people.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy celebrated on 30 April 2017, Metropolitan Teofan thanked the fellow hierarchs and noted that the visit of His Eminence Metropolitan Hierotheos was occasioned by the launching in the Romanian language of two of his volumes:

  • Empirical Dogmatics of the Orthodox Catholic Church according to the spoken teaching of Father John Romanides, vol. 2,
  • Old and New Rome. From Orthodox Tradition to Western traditions.

The evening of the same day, His Eminence Metropolitan Hierotheos Vlachos held a conference at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University on Christian spiritual life in today’s society.
