On Tuesday, the Mother of God is the Protectress of all mothers, parents, and children, emphasized His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania.
Especially on the Feast of the Annunciation, “we deeply value God’s blessing upon all families, and especially upon those who give birth to children or foster or adopt them,” said the Patriarch of Romania in his homily dedicated to the feast.
“For this reason, for several years now, the month of March in Romania has become a time of reflection, prayer, and guidance in order to protect the lives of children. Notably, the March for Life is organized, and this year, 2025, it will take place on March 29, next Saturday, under the theme Every Person Matters.”
A Message of Support and Affirmation of Motherhood
“This encourages the birth of children, the support of families, and the assistance of young women carrying a child, as well as all those who love life as a gift from God,” His Beatitude explained.
“A person born into this world becomes not only a citizen of an earthly country, but if he lives a life according to God’s will, he may also become a citizen of Heaven, of the Kingdom of God. More precisely, every child born into the world has the potential to become a saint, if raised in faith, loving God and their neighbor.”
Motherhood in the Light of Eternity
“Therefore, this gift of human life is a gift meant for eternity,” continued Patriarch Daniel.
“When God created the first family, Adam and Eve, and said to them, blessing them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill (or cultivate) the earth, He then established a blessing for eternity, for man, created in the image of the eternally living God, has an immortal soul. At the general Resurrection, all people will rise again, and thus humanity will live eternally.”
The Infinite Value of a Child
“We do not say that the animal or plant kingdom will live in eternity, but humanity—resurrected, with transfigured body and soul—will live in eternity. Even though they died physically, those who lived on earth with the longing for eternity will rise again at the general Resurrection,” the Patriarch underlined.
“The value of a child in this world is infinite. Each child is unique. And through Baptism, each is called to live forever in the love of the Most Holy Trinity, according to the Savior’s promise: He who believes in Me, though he may die, yet shall he live.”
“Let us pray to the Mother of God and to all the saints to bless all parents, all children, and all those who support families with many children—to raise them in faith, to educate them, and to teach them to love God and their neighbor, for the glory of the Most Holy Trinity and for our salvation,” His Beatitude concluded.
Month and March for Life
Patriarch Daniel speaks every year on the Feast of the Annunciation about the Month and March for Life. The Month for Life is a series of events held annually in March, promoting the value of motherhood and the full humanity of the unborn child, as well as the need for concrete support for mothers and families.
The events culminate in the March for Life, a public event organized around the Feast of the Annunciation. This year’s theme is Every Person Matters. Last year, over 1,500 localities in Romania and the Republic of Moldova organized various activities during the Month for Life, including marches for life.
