Malta’s President to attend Paschal Agape Vespers at Valletta Romanian Orthodox Parish

The President of Malta will attend the Paschal Agape Vespers at the Romanian Orthodox Parish in Valletta, according to an announcement made by the Romanian community in Malta.

President George Vella will be accompanied by his wife, Miriam Vella.

Agape Vespers (also called Vespers of Love) is a Vespers service that continues the celebration of Pascha, typically held in the afternoon on the day of Pascha. The service will be celebrated at the Romanian Parish of Valletta on Sunday, April 16, at 1 pm.

The relationship between the Romanian Orthodox community in Malta and the President of Malta is warm: Romanian children have sung carols twice at the Presidential Palace in Malta, including Maltese songs in their repertoire.

“This is the way we like to see integration happening in Malta,” President George Vella wrote then on Twitter.

Since 2020, the Valletta Parish has been pastored by Father George-Alexandru Popescu. The presbytera Andreea Popescu coordinates the activities with the children. The parish is dedicated to The Nativity of St. John the Baptist and was founded on April 7, 2014.
