Today, 24 October 2012, the relics of Saint Hierarch Nectarie, of Saint Dimitrios the New and of Saints Emperors Constantine and Helen, clergy and pilgrims who participated in the Way of the Saints procession were met by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel on the scene specially arranged close to the Patriarchal Cathedral, on the Patriarchate Hill.
On this occasion, the polichronion service was celebrated for receiving the relics of Saint Nectarie from Eghina. To end with the religious service, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel delivered the welcome speech, followed by the answer of His Eminence Efrem, Metropolitan of Ydra, Spetses and Eghina.
The Patriarch of Romania showed that the presence of the holy relics on the Joy Hill was a great blessing.
“We thank His Beatitude Ieronim, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, for blessing and effort, because he answered with love the devotion of the Romanian Orthodox faithful for Saint Nectarie. The presence of the relics of Saint Hierarch Nectarie from Eghina, in Bucharest, on these feast days, near the relics of Saint Pious Dimitrios the New and of the Saints Emperors Constantine and Helen, is a blessing for all of us: hierarchs, clergy, inhabitants of the monasteries, faithful pilgrims from Romania and abroad”, said His Beatitude.
His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel has also addressed the pilgrims present.
“We congratulate you all for your coming to Bucharest during these days of blessing and joy that Christ offers us and we pray God to reward your devotion and efforts, diligence and generosity, with His rich permanent gifts, with good health and wisdom, peace and joy, help in the family and in your activity too, with many blessed years to grow in faith and brotherly love, in holiness and good deeds, for the glory of the Most Holy Trinity, for the joy of the saints and for getting salvation”, His Beatitude also said.
At the same time, His Eminence Efrem, Metropolitan of Ydra, Spetses and Eghina showed that the day was a day of the bestowing of the heavenly gifts and of a great joy.
“So, we convey, on the occasion of your coming over here, greetings of love and brotherly love first of all to Your Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, then to Their Eminences and Graces the hierarchs present, to the Romanian righteous clergy and people, as well as to the representatives of the state public institutions of this country. We also convey our brotherly best wishes to all those present, praying Saint Nectarie, the miracle worker, whom the Romanian worships in quite a special way – as it can be seen through the visits to his monastery in Eghina by hundreds of Romanian pilgrims – to strengthen, through the power and grace of the Holy Spirit, our feelings, hope and certitude in the final victory of our Orthodox faith”, His Eminence Metropolitan Efrem said.
