The celebrations dedicated to Saint Parascheva of Iași began on Wednesday morning with the placement of the saint’s holy relics for public veneration under a canopy near the Metropolitan Cathedral in Iași.
The solemn procession was led by Assistant Bishop Nichifor of Botoșani, following the service of the Akathist Hymn to Saint Parascheva.
The day’s liturgical program continued with the Blessing of Water service, the Midnight Office, Matins, and the Divine Liturgy, all of which were celebrated inside the cathedral.
Starting on October 11, the relics of Saint Gregory Palamas, brought from Thessaloniki, will also be displayed alongside those of Saint Parascheva.
The organisers have urged the faithful attending the celebrations to take weather forecasts and local authorities’ recommendations into account and to wear clothing appropriate for the season.
The Archdiocese of Iași has made two phone numbers available for pilgrims to call during the pilgrimage period: +40757.579.100 and +40757.033.466, which are active from October 8 to 15.
Additionally, the websites doxologia.ro and mmb.ro will display the location of the end of the pilgrims’ queue in real time, which will follow the same well-known route as in previous years.
