Carols in sign language for first time at the Patriarchal Residence

His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, welcomed Monday, 19 December 2016, at the Patriarchal Residence in Bucharest, a group of carollers with impaired hearing and speech deficiencies and members of The Army of the Lord Association – Bucharest.

While the members of the Army of the Lord Association sung carols, the others interpreted the lyrics in sign language. This is for the first time carols are interpreted in sign language at the Patriarchal Residence in the presence of Patriarch Daniel.

In his speech, His Beatitude pointed out the harmony of the group led by Fr Ilie Mirel.

We welcomed today a group of carollers with impaired hearing and speech deficiencies and members of The Army of the Lord Association in Bucharest. They are led by Fr Ilie Mirel, ministrant of the Orthodox community of young people with impaired hearing and speech deficiencies in Bucharest. It is for the first time when to receive this beautiful type of group, the Patriarch of Romania said.

In the end, the carollers received the patriarchal blessing of His Beatitude.
