The Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada conducted a series of events from November 28 to 30 in honour of Saint Andrew the Apostle, the diocese’s spiritual protector.
“Saint Andrew the Apostle and the Holy Hierarch Andrew Șaguna are worthy examples, reminding us that nothing is impossible when we have strong faith in God and His grace. Let us not hesitate to follow their example and seek their help in prayer,” said Bishop Ioan Casian after the Divine Liturgy on Saturday.
The celebrations took place at “Saint George the Great Martyr and Saints Epictetus and Astion” Cathedral in Saint Hubert and were presided over by His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian.
The festivities began last Thursday evening with the Sacrament of Holy Unction, presided over by the bishop. On Friday, the hierarch led the Vespers service on the eve of Saint Andrew’s feast.
After the liturgical program, His Grace spoke about the two saints, encouraging the faithful to follow their example.
Throughout the celebrations, worshippers could venerate a relic of Saint Andrew Șaguna, Metropolitan of Transylvania.
