On Tuesday morning, His Grace Assistant Bishop Nectarie of Bogdania met with Igor Grosu, the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, for discussions centered on the role of the Church in society and its collaboration with state institutions.
A Meeting of Cooperation
“The meeting took place in an atmosphere of openness and mutual respect, grounded in the shared belief that a nation can be strengthened only through the imperishable values of faith, unity, and love for one another,” representatives of the Metropolis of Bessarabia stated.
Assistant Bishop Nectarie emphasized that the Church serves as a “source of light and hope for those who seek truth and justice,” highlighting the necessity of fostering harmony, mutual understanding, and solidarity among people.
“Together, we must cultivate these values to heal the wounds of the past and build a future rooted in faith and our traditional values,” the Assistant Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chișinău affirmed on March 4.
The Church’s Role in Society
During the discussion, Speaker Igor Grosu underscored the Church’s essential role in preserving the spiritual identity of the nation. He described the Church as a pillar of cultural values and a key factor in intergenerational cohesion.
He also highlighted the Church’s fundamental role in maintaining national unity and stressed the importance of an active and constructive partnership between state institutions and the Church. The goal of this collaboration, he said, is to develop projects that contribute to peace, education, and the spiritual well-being of the community.
