Assistant Bishop Nichifor leads Romanian pilgrims to Cyprus holy places

A group of Romanian pilgrims led by His Grace Nichifor of Botoșani, the assistant bishop to the archdiocese of Iași, visited the places where Sts Paul and Barnabas preached the Gospel to Cypriots.

The pilgrimage, organised by St Parascheva pilgrimage centre of the Iasi Archdiocese, took place from March 14 to 18. It included sites like St Neophyte the Recluse Monastery and Kykkos Monastery.

On Sunday, March 17, Assistant Bishop Nichifor of Botosani celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St Lazarus Church in Larnaca together with other Romanian priests. The pilgrims had the opportunity to venerate the relics of Saint Lazarus and to visit his tomb.

The Romanian pilgrims were impressed by the church of St Barnabas near Famagusta in Northern Cyprus.

The pilgrimage also included meetings with His Beatitude Archbishop George of New Justiniana and All Cyprus and Metropolitan Athanasios of Limassol.
