Archbishop Teodosie performs Great Blessing of Waters on Black Sea shores: “Fear not future waves”

On the feast of Theophany, His Eminence Archbishop Teodosie officiated the Great Blessing of Waters on the seafront at the Tomis Harbour, expressing his hope that we will get through this difficult period: “May we have joy all year long, and let us not be afraid of the future waves. With God, we are above the waves: God has overcome both the waves of the sea and the waves of sin.”

“We hope even now that the milder disease will be overcome this time with prayer, faith, with the power of God, and with holy water,” he said January 6, 2022.

The feast day began with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at the “Holy Apostles Peter and Paul” Cathedral in Constanța. After the Divine Liturgy, clerics and believers set off in procession to the seafront in Constanța, where the archbishop blessed the waters.

The ceremony was attended by the Honorary Guard consisting of Naval Forces soldiers and Naval Forces Band.

“We pastors will do our duty to urge the people and bring them to more faith. Where there is faith, there is light, there is life, and there is joy,” the Archbishop of Tomis added.

In the end, as part of the Epiphany ritual, His Eminence Archbishop Teodosie threw three crosses into the sea and rewarded those who retrieved them.
