“I pray for Romania and for the continued growth and influence of the Romanian Church, and I give thanks for the opportunity to strengthen our relationship,” said the Archbishop of Canterbury, His Grace Justin Welby, in a message posted on social media on Thursday.
The message comes following the reception at Lambeth Palace in London of Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, His Royal Highness Prince Radu, His Eminence Metropolitan Iosif of Western and Southern Europe, and Her Excellency Laura Popescu, Ambassador of Romania to the United Kingdom.
In a comment after the meeting, Ambassador Laura Popescu thanked Archbishop Justin Welby “for his good thoughts and prayers for Romania.”
It was an honour to welcome Her Majesty Margareta of Romania, His Royal Highness Prince Radu, His Eminence Archbishop Josif, Metropolitan of Western Europe, and Her Excellency Laura Popescu, Romanian Ambassador to the UK, today to Lambeth Palace.

The Royal House of Romania reported that from November 22 to November 24, Her Majesty the Custodian of the Romanian Crown and His Royal Highness the Prince Consort will be in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Earlier this year, the Archbishop of Canterbury visited Bucharest, and he was welcomed by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel at the Patriarchal Residence in Bucharest.
