Archbishop Irineu on Women’s Day: feminine delicacy and courage are symphonically intertwined in a Christian woman

On International Women’s Day, the Archbishop of Alba Iulia sent a congratulatory message to every Christian woman: “At the gate of her heart stands conscience as a guard, and only duty passes beyond the threshold of her heart,” Archbishop Irineu noted in his message.

By a “trustworthy saying” (2 Tim. 2:10), the woman, through her specific qualities, can incentivize those around her to be more conscientious, orderly, and productive, both personally as well as professionally,” His Eminence Archbishop Irineu said.

The Archbishop highlighted that in the Christian woman, “feminine delicacy is symphonically intertwined with the virtue of courage, and the tendency towards the contemplation of beauty with the creative activity.”

“On this day dedicated to women, we express our sincere affection for these wonderful beings,” the Archbishop added.

“At the same time, we ask God to give them a peaceful life, imbued with the soft scent of spring flowers and seconded by the harmonious chirping of the birds in the budding grove. Happy Women’s Day!”

March 8 was initially celebrated as Women’s Day in Western socialist circles, then became a national day in Soviet Russia.

Gradually, the holiday moved away from its ideological origins and came to be marked in over 100 countries.
