Annual Diocesan Assembly Meeting of the Archdiocese of Bucharest

The Diocesan Assembly of the Archdiocese of Bucharest held its annual meeting Saturday, 4 February 2017, in the Synodal Hall of the Patriarchal Residence. Before the meeting, His Grace Timotei of Prahova, Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest, officiated a Te Deum service at the Patriarchal Cathedral.

During the meeting of the Diocesan Assembly, the activities carried out in 2016 by the Departments of the Diocesan Centre in Bucharest were presented and evaluated. Proposals were formulated to enhance activities in 2017, according to the Framework Programme drafted by the Holy Synod entitled 2017 – Solemn Year of Holy Icons, iconographers and Church painters and Commemorative Year of Patriarch Justinian and of the defenders of Orthodoxy during communism.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel chaired the meeting. The Patriarch opened the works of the meeting by reading out the Synthesis Report entitled: Missionary Cooperation and Social Responsibility. The diocesan advisers presented the 2016 activity reports of the Diocesan Centre and pointed out the progress made by the Archdiocese of Bucharest in developing social activities. There was a significant increase in the financial resources used for charity. An estimated 1.2 million Euros (5614239 lei) was given to charity causes.

At the end of the meeting, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel thanked everyone who supports the Church in her spiritual and social activities.
