Today, 5 May 2014, the second edition of the National Conference on the theme Dogmatic unity and national specific in the religious painting is held at the Patriarchate Palace. The event convenes historians of art, painters and specialists in church art. The manifestation dedicated to the commemorative year of the Brancovean Martyr Saints was opened by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel who spoke about the Pascal dimension of the Orthodox iconography. “When the iconography loses its Pascal perspective it ceases to be a theology of transfiguration, of peace and of the joy stemmed from the faith and prayer of the Church. Every authentic Orthodox painter must be a teacher of light and of the Pascal joy so that his painting should confirm what the liturgical chants say, in general, and especially this chant In the Church of your glory staying in Heaven the Birth Giver to God seems to stay, His Beatitude says. The working sessions will deal with various themes related to iconography, technique of work, as well as to legislation. The event is going to be the most important manifestation dedicated to religious art hosted by the Romanian Patriarchate and it will end Thursday, 8 May 2014.
