The 8th edition of the National Assembly Christ conveyed to children has begun on Tuesday, 22 September 2015, with the blessing of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania. The event takes place at the St Cross – Caraiman Monastery in Buşteni, from 22 to 23 September 2015.
The final target of the religious and moral education must be the spiritual upbringing of children
The works of the assemblyhave been opened by the delegate of the Romanian Patriarch: His Grace Varlaam Ploieşteanul, Assistant bishop to the patriarch.
His Grace Bishop Varlaam delivered the message of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel entitled Intellectual information and spiritual formation in the moral and religious education of children and youth, from which we quote the following excerpt (The full text of the message can be read here): “Christian education of children and youth must not be limited to transmitting intellectual information, but will especially aim for the moral and spiritual formation of children and youth, shaping their character and personality according to the ideal of the Gospel of Christ’s love and to the spiritual life of the Church. In other words, the final target of the religious and moral education must be the spiritual upbringing of children and youth in the love towards God and fellow people, especially by involving them both in the liturgical life of the Church, and in the cultural, social and philanthropic activities of the parish community.”
In this event participate the inspectors responsible for organizing the parish catechesis, the inspectors from within the county school inspectorates responsible for religious education, representatives of the Romanian Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, as well as other persons directly involved in the development of this project.
The first day of the Assembly
During the works of the first day of the Assembly, several studies will be presented, regarding different subjects as: School and Church – shared responsibility in the education of youth; The connection between religious education in school and catechetic education in Church; Religious education in the vision of the Church Fathers.
Also, after presenting the activity reports of the eparchies, several debates will be organized on the following topics: Good practice models – religious education; the Synthesis of the activity reports presented – correlation with religious education; The Program Christ conveyed to children; the Program The Way (of salvation).
Strategy regarding the collaboration between School and Church
On Wednesday, 23 September 2015, on the agenda of the Assembly is planning a short, medium and long term strategy for the collaboration between School and Church.
