Romanian Patriarch sends message of compassion and solidarity after Cairo bombing

His Holiness Tawadros II,

Pope and Patriarch of Coptic Orthodox Church of Egypt

Your Holiness,

The news of the tragic terrorist attack on the morning of 11 December 2016 committed at the “Holy Apostles Peter and Paul” church of the Coptic community in Cairo, in which 25 people lost their lives and another near 50 were injured, has grieved us profoundly.

On behalf of the bishops, clergy and faithful of the Romanian Orthodox Church we express our sincere condolences and deepest fraternal compassion and pray for the repose of the souls of those fallen asleep in the Lord exactly during the Divine Liturgy, as well as for the quick recovery of those injured in this anti-Christian attack.

In these painful moments, we assure you of our Christian solidarity and pray the God of Peace and Mercy to bring peacefulness and reconciliation in the Coptic Christian community of Egypt, giving all those hard hit these days the power to find spiritual comfort during the great feast of the Nativity of the Lord which is approaching.

With esteem and love in Christ the Lord,

† DANIEL
