Veria Metropolitan hopes to bring relics of Great Martyr Demetrius to Romania

Metropolitan Panteleimon de Veria expressed his desire to revisit Romania. The Greek hierarch said he would bring the right hand of St. Demetrius the Myrrh-gusher.

Patriarch Daniel made the announcement on Thursday at the feast of Saint Demetrius the New, the Patron Saint of Bucharest.

“His Eminence Metropolitan Panteleimon of Veria promised that in the coming years he will bring the right hand of Saint Demetrius the Myrrh-gusher and leave us a fragment of his relics so that the two Saints Demetrius, celebrated on October 26 and 27, will have even more great connection between them through their holy relics.”

“This promise full of generosity and friendship of His Eminence Metropolitan Panteleimon of Veria is a joy for us, an encouragement and an intensification of the communion between our Orthodox, Greek and Romanian peoples,” the Patriarch of Romania said on Oct. 27.

Metropolitan Panteleimon of Veria, Naoussa and Kampania came to Romania for the festivities of the Patron Saint of Bucharest and brought the relics of Saint Gregory Palamas.
