The Second Day of the Synaxis of the Primates of the Orthodox Churches

The second day of the Synaxis of the Primates of the Orthodox Churches that is taking place these days in the old city of Constantinople began this morning when the Churches delegations met in plenary session in the church of Saint Great Martyr George at the seat of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The proceedings continued here deciding upon various aspects concerning the preparation of the next Pan-Orthodox Synod.

The delegates of every Church took the floor and presented proposals for the preparation, organisation and good development of the Pan-Orthodox Synod.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel delivered a substantial lecture in which he underlined and theologically, pastorally and missionary argued the role and importance of this meeting of the Primates of the Orthodox Churches in the process of preparation of the next Synod of the Orthodox Church, also making concrete suggestions in this regard.

The proceedings will continue tomorrow when the conclusions of the Synaxis will be presented.

Tonight, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel participated in the celebration of the Annunciation Akathistos together with the other Primates of Orthodox Churches, in the church of Saint Michael and Gabriel the Archangels, on the left bank of the Bosporus.

Tonight the celebration was held by His Beatitude Theodor II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa.

The meeting of Constantinople will end Sunday when all the Church Primates will celebrate the Divine Liturgy in the church of Saint George in Phanar district of Istanbul, on the Orthodoxy Sunday.
