Today, 27 January 2015, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church awarded the “Brancovean Saints Martyrs” for clergy to Rev Horia Nicolae Prioteasa. Rev Prioteasa held the position of coordinator of the priests of charity of the Archdiocese of Bucharest so far.
On this occasion, the Patriarch of Romania said: “We, the Christians, must spread not panic but hope around us, not darkness but light, and show first of all that we must have hope in God, who is the Lord of history, and see, from this point of view, that the saints devoted to God dedicate themselves to Him and live off His Grace. This thing can be seen especially in extreme cases, in hospitals, where man is between life and death, when he can no longer rely on human help, but only on that of God, even though this one comes through humans too, through a priest who gives good advice, who prays and utters the name of Christ, through a good physician, who finds the best means of allaying sufferance.
The coordinator’s position of the priests of charity involves several tasks: “First of all the coordinator must inspect the chapels within the Archdiocese of Bucharest within the state institutions, and secondly, to convene the priests of charity for holding the pastoral Circle sessions: “Communication and Communion” of the priests of charity of Bucharest; “Prayer and Fraternity” (a common session of the priests of cemeteries of Bucharest), and “Hope and Healing” (with the priests of charity of Prahova). The role of the coordinator is to mobilize the priests of charity on the occasion of the celebration of the dedication day of the Patriarchal Cathedral, or of the Palm Sunday procession with holy relics organised by the Administrative Department”, Rev Horia Nicolae Prioteasa related to “Lumina” newspaper.
